health

A healthy dog will have good posture, be alert, interested and curious about its surroundings. The head will be raised high and its ears will follow a source of noise. The nose is usually wet, the skin pink and looking healthy, and the shine and colour depth of the coat should make you want to pet your dog. A healthy dog will walk easily and should not be too fat. You should be able to feel the back ribs, with a little fat between the skin and the ribs. Proper care, plenty of exercise and a good diet will go a long way in making sure your dog is fit, healthy and active. Unfortunately, it is not impossible for your dog to fall ill and it is important to recognise symptoms of disease. If your dog does not feel well, the first signs can usually be found in its behaviour: he may be quieter than normal, less playful and active than normal. You may also notice an increase or decrease in appetite.
